Why this isn’t built yet

A motherboard chipset cannot be explained without the processor generation it serves, so the socket and chipset pages originally planned for this section now live in CPUs, built alongside the processors that define them. This section covers what is left: form factors, power delivery, expansion layout and how the board brands differ.

What this section will cover

Form factors explained: ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX and the mini/E-ATX variants, what changes in size and expansion room between them
Power delivery (VRM) in plain English: what it is, why it matters for a high-power CPU, and how to tell a stronger board from a weaker one without a spec sheet
Expansion and connectivity: PCIe slots and lanes, M.2 slots, SATA, front-panel headers
BIOS and UEFI basics: what firmware controls on a board and where the settings live
The board brands (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, ASRock and others): how each brand segments a product line and what its own naming actually signals
Buying guidance by use case, once the above is in place: what actually matters for a budget build versus a high-end one
