DeeperThe detail
Micron is the only one with a manufacturing company here, and the name comes from the government rather than from Micron: the Prime Minister’s Office records the inauguration of the facility "of Micron Semiconductor Technology India Private Limited in Sanand" 3. A private limited company incorporated in India is the strongest form on this list — it can trade, invoice, employ and be sued here.
Kingston’s Mumbai presence is the most interesting entry, and the most misunderstood. Its contacts page lists the "Kingston Technology India Liaison Office, India 407, Sunteck Crest Near International Airport, Plot No. 3, Next to Leela Business Park, Marol, Andheri (E) Mumbai, Maharashtra 400059" 9. Compare how the same page names its other arms — "Kingston Technology Far East Corp." and "Kingston Technology Co., Ltd" are corporations; the India entry is not 9.
“Liaison office” is a defined legal form under India’s foreign-exchange rules, and the definition is the point. Regulation 2(e) of FEMA 22(R), 2016: a liaison office "means a place of business to act as a channel of communication between the principal place of business or Head Office or by whatever name called and entities in India but which does not undertake any commercial /trading/ industrial activity, directly or indirectly, and maintains itself out of inward remittances received from abroad through normal banking channel." 17 The spacing around "commercial /trading/ industrial" is as published.
A liaison office in that sense is confined to a closed list of activities — representing the parent, promoting trade, acting as a channel of communication — set out in Regulation 4(b) and Schedule II of the same rules 17. Commercial, trading and industrial activity sits outside it. So a properly constituted liaison office is not the entity selling you a module.
One caution on how far that goes, because this is a legal characterisation on a hardware page. The phrase "Liaison Office" is Kingston’s own description on its website, not a registration this site has verified with the Reserve Bank; and Kingston listing no other Indian arm is not the same as there being none. What can fairly be said is narrower: on the face of what Kingston publishes, its India presence is representation rather than trade, and the seller of Kingston memory in India is a distributor.

Samsung is the case that looks strongest and is least relevant. It publishes an Indian registered office — "6th Floor, DLF Centre, Sansad Marg, New Delhi-110001" — with a corporate identity number, CIN U31900DL1995PTC071387 8. That is a substantial Indian company. But checked its India about page and its India newsroom: no statement was found about memory or semiconductor activity in India 8. Samsung’s large Indian presence is in other businesses.
Two absences recorded properly rather than assumed. SK hynix: its company-history page names operations in the United States, Europe, Singapore, China, Scotland and Korea; the only India mention is a line dated October 2000 recording that it "Entered India’s CDMA WLL equipment market" — a telecom-era market entry, not an office 16. Corsair: its contact page publishes a California headquarters and a Netherlands office and no Indian address 14; its Exhibit 21.1 to the FY2025 Form 10-K, filed 24 February 2026, names 23 subsidiaries and none is organised in India 18. In both cases this is what the company publishes, not a finding about what exists.
PNY is the oddest. It runs an India storefront at an /en-in/ path and carries a "PNY INDIA" label in its regional navigation — but the storefront’s footer carries only a global corporate attribution, and no Indian entity name, office address or registration detail was found on either page 12 13. A country storefront without a country company behind it.
The pattern across the whole table is worth naming. Presence in the Indian memory market is overwhelmingly commercial rather than corporate. One company manufactures here. One has an office forbidden from trading. The rest reach Indian buyers entirely through distributors and retailers they mostly do not name — which makes the next two sections, about who you are allowed to buy from and what your warranty is worth, the practical centre of this page.
