๐ฏ May Challenge
Build one thing using everything โ in one session.
๐ฅ Warm Up
"The May challenge: make something real, in 25 minutes, using everything you know. No preparation. Just you and what you have learned."
"The constraint makes it better. Let's go."
๐ค The Activity
The challenge: Your child picks one of these and builds it completely in this session:
To something they know well โ written for someone who knows nothing about it
On a topic they are currently learning at school โ with answer explanations
To someone they want to explain something to โ using AI to help get the tone right
Of one news story โ with context, perspectives, and verified claims
Build it. Time yourself. When the 20 minutes are up โ what was completed? What would another 5 minutes add?
๐งฉ The Twist
Ask your child: do you agree with the rating? What would you change if you did it again?
Monthly refresher: say all five rules together. By now they should be habits. If any feel uncertain โ that is the one to revisit this month.
May Champion Badge ๐ฏ
Completed the May challenge โ built something real in one focused session
Parent Notes
โผFocused execution โ building something complete under a time constraint.
- What did you finish? What did you run out of time for?
- What would you do differently if you had 30 minutes instead of 20?
- What is the best thing about what you made?
The time constraint is intentional. It forces prioritisation and decisiveness. The output does not need to be perfect โ it needs to be done.
Monthly check-in: how is AI use going at home generally? Any new tools being used? Any concerns?
