Session 7 of 24 โ AI Builder
Write better emails, messages, and presentations.
"Communication is one of the most valuable skills there is. AI can help you communicate more clearly and professionally. But it can also make your writing sound like everyone else's."
"Today we learn to use AI to improve communication โ without losing your own voice."
Real communication tasks. Real improvements. Your child's voice stays theirs.
Task 1 โ Improve without replacing
Your child writes a short email (3-4 sentences) asking a teacher for an extension on an assignment. Their own words, their own style.
Compare the two. What changed? What stayed the same? Did it lose their voice? Revise together until it sounds like them โ but better.
Task 2 โ Explain a complex idea simply
After AI drafts it: your child reads it aloud. Does it sound like them? Do they actually believe every word? Revise anything that does not feel right.
This makes visible what personalisation actually is. Ask: Which would a teacher rather receive? Why does the personal version work better? The lesson: AI can improve your writing, but the personal details that make it yours come only from you.
There is a fine line between using AI to improve your communication and using AI to replace it. The test: read the final version aloud. Every word should feel true to you. If there are sentences you would never say โ cut them. The writing is yours when you can defend every choice in it.
Used AI to improve communication โ while keeping a personal voice
Communication and voice โ using AI as an editor rather than a ghostwriter. The distinction between improving and replacing is one of the most important in the programme.
Some children find it liberating to use AI to improve their writing. Others feel uncomfortable โ like it is not fully theirs anymore. Both reactions are valid and worth exploring.
The ghostwriting concern is real in schools right now. The principle established here โ AI as editor, not author โ is the most defensible position for students. They can improve their writing with AI and still genuinely own what they submit.
