When someone searches for a doctor or a restaurant, they're not browsing. They're deciding.
Healthcare clinics, restaurants, and professional services (lawyers, CAs, consultants) share one critical characteristic: trust is the primary purchase driver. Customers don't just want the cheapest option — they want someone they can trust with their health, their food, or their financial affairs. Digital marketing for these industries is built around building and displaying that trust.
All three industries are also inherently local. A dentist in Pune doesn't need to reach people in Delhi. A restaurant doesn't serve customers from another city. A family lawyer needs clients who can visit their office. This makes local SEO and Google Maps the most important channels — more important than national advertising campaigns.
🗺️
Think of Google Maps as the new yellow pages — but with reviews. When someone searches 'gynaecologist Koramangala' or 'best biryani near me', Google Maps shows the top 3 results in a prominent box. Getting into that top 3 is worth more than any newspaper ad. And unlike the yellow pages, every listing has ratings that customers genuinely trust.
📍
Google Business Profile
The free listing that controls your Google Maps presence — photos, hours, reviews, and booking links.
⭐
Reviews & Reputation
4.5+ star rating on Google is now table stakes. Actively asking for reviews is a legitimate strategy.
📸
Instagram for F&B
Food is inherently visual. Restaurants that post quality food photography get direct walk-ins and deliveries.
⚠️
Healthcare Compliance
Healthcare advertising is heavily regulated. Claims must be accurate. Patient testimonials have restrictions.
⚠️ Healthcare advertising is different: Doctors and clinics cannot make false or unverifiable claims about treatments. The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) and Medical Council guidelines restrict what can be advertised. A digital marketer working with a healthcare client needs to understand these limits — 'guaranteed cure' or 'best doctor in India' claims are not permitted.

Read the reference page below before taking the quiz.
Why is local SEO more important than national advertising for a dental clinic in Mumbai?
A
A: Local SEO is cheaper than national advertising
B
B: A dental clinic's patients can only realistically come from the surrounding area, so local visibility matters more than national reach
C
C: National advertising is not available for healthcare businesses
D
D: Google only shows local results for healthcare searches
✅ A dental clinic serves a local catchment area. A patient in Delhi is irrelevant. Local SEO and Google Maps visibility for nearby searchers is what actually drives appointments.
❌ Locality is the key — a dental clinic's patients must be able to physically visit. National reach is irrelevant. Local visibility on Google Maps for people nearby is what matters.
Question 2 of 5
A restaurant has 50 Google reviews averaging 3.8 stars. Their competitor has 800 reviews averaging 4.6 stars. What is the most important thing the first restaurant should do?
A
A: Run more Instagram ads to attract more customers
B
B: Lower their menu prices to compete
C
C: Actively request reviews from happy customers and address the issues causing low ratings
D
D: Report the competitor's reviews as fake
✅ Reviews and rating are trust signals that directly affect local search ranking and customer decisions. Actively asking satisfied customers for reviews is the fastest legitimate way to improve both the volume and average rating.
❌ The solution is to actively collect more reviews from happy customers. More positive reviews improve both the star rating and the total volume, which improves Google Maps ranking.
Question 3 of 5
What is Google Business Profile (GBP) and why is it important for local businesses?
A
A: A paid advertising platform for local businesses
B
B: A free tool that controls how a business appears on Google Maps and Search — including hours, photos, reviews, and contact info
C
C: A website builder for small businesses
D
D: A social media platform for local community groups
✅ Google Business Profile is the free listing that manages a business's presence on Google Maps and local search results. A complete, optimised GBP is the single most impactful free marketing tool for any local business.
❌ Google Business Profile is free. It controls your business's presence on Google Maps and local search — photos, opening hours, reviews, contact details, and even booking links.
Question 4 of 5
A law firm wants to attract clients through digital marketing. Which content approach is most appropriate?
A
A: Flashy Instagram Reels showing their office
B
B: Educational blog posts and guides answering common legal questions their target clients search for
D: Bulk WhatsApp messages to purchased phone number lists
✅ Educational content that answers the questions potential clients are already searching for is the right approach. This builds trust, demonstrates expertise, and ranks for relevant queries — the three things professional services marketing needs to do.
❌ Educational content — blog posts, guides, FAQs — is the right approach for professional services. It demonstrates expertise, builds trust, and ranks in search for queries potential clients are already asking.
Question 5 of 5
Why are 'before and after' photos and 'guaranteed results' claims particularly risky for healthcare advertisers in India?
A
A: They are too expensive to produce
B
B: Healthcare advertising is regulated — false or unverifiable claims violate ASCI guidelines and Medical Council rules
D: Google Ads doesn't allow healthcare advertising
✅ Healthcare advertising is regulated in India. The ASCI and Medical Council of India restrict unverifiable claims, testimonials that imply typical results, and guarantees. Violating these guidelines can result in penalties and damaged reputation.
❌ Healthcare advertising has strict regulatory restrictions in India. 'Guaranteed results' are unverifiable claims that violate ASCI and Medical Council guidelines — they can mislead patients about realistic outcomes.
